Review: Saiunkoku Monogatari Season 1
Sypnosis: (MAL)
Saiunkoku is a world of eight provinces or houses, each named after a different colour. The new Emperor, Shi Ryuuki, has gained for a reputation for being uninterested in courtly matters and for flaunting his love for men. Shuurei, although born of the important Kou family, has difficulty making ends meet. She easily accepts an invitation to be the Emperor's concubine in order to turn him into a good ruler. The mysterious Seiran, a young man who was adopted by her father, goes with her as Ryuuki's bodyguard. Entering the imperial palace revives Shuurei's dream of being a court official, and, together with the many companions she meets along the way, continues moving bravely forward while trying to fend off the Emperor's advances.

Hayeeh!
You know, the one thing i regret is to slip off a good anime and not giving it a try. Watching Saiunkoku Monoogatari is like having to be careless about the world, like staring a fall leaf to drop, waiting for a snow flakes to crash the window or like staring your crush from afar and just being happy and contented. ;)
4 Days ago i was needing a good anime to watch and wanted to be away to those anime which are action-fantasy-supernatural type for a change. I wanted something new. I thought of Fushigi Yuugi's era and it led me to this anime.
It was supposed to be good.. but i think it's more than that. It was so addicting that i was always surprised when the closing song starts to play. I can't get enough of it. And before I knew it, I was crying at the closing song.. of the last episode.
It's the third time that an anime made me cry. The first was Bokura ga ita and second, i cried a bucket of watching Clannad: after story.
If I'm gonna recommend a good anime, this has to be one of those. Forget Naruto, One piece or Bleach for a second, you gonna give this a try. And if you started posting its pictures on your blog, i'm watching you!! (devil's eyes..hehe)
It was aired 2006, well, i can't blame myself of not watching it on that year because i was having a cursing time with my Algebra problems. (laughs)
It's not really the looks of the characters I'm truly impressed. It's the characters. Each of them are different. Each was established in a way you can't ignore one of them. It's the feeling of knowing each of them and having to feel what their actions are because of their past, their work, their ranks and their dreams. You'll be telling "I like the Emperor for her", and then at some point your option was being swayed because a new character was built and then at the end you'll be saying "It doesn't matter who's for who.. really.." The funny thing is, even the minor character won you over.
At some of the episodes, It was so fulfilling having to feel what the girl protagonist is feeling. Or, having to predict like, "Oh my, she's in-love with him.." even without truly hearing romantic words from the girl.
What more can I say, I loved it.
bye! :)
*Ahm.. i would love to hear your thoughts. :) - fymb
